Albuquerque International Sunport

With eight airlines providing flights to and from more than 25 cities, the Albuquerque International Sunport not only services the Albuquerque metro area, it also is the gateway to the state of New Mexico. The Sunport makes travel easier with video phones and TTY phones located throughout the airport, wheelchairs available for use and three pet relief areas for service animals. Sun Van Paratransit Service

The Sun Van Paratransit Service offers accessible transportation to residents and visitors who can’t ride the fixed routes served by ABQ Ride (Albuquerque’s bus system). Sun Van allows visitors to use its services for 21 days by presenting ADA eligible certification from another transit provider, or prove non-residency along with other documentation of a mobility impairment.

ABQ Ride buses are wheelchair accessible.

United Access Wheelchair Van Rentals

United Access offers wheelchair van rentals in New Mexico. Vans can be delivered to the airport, a hotel or other location, with side-entry or rear-entry ramps. Visit the United Access website for more information on booking a van rental.

zTrip

zTrip is a rideshare service that allows users to book rides online or via app throughout the city. It has wheelchair-accessible vehicles available and drivers who are experienced with loading accessibility devices.

Rent an Accessibility Device

Destination Accessibility offers wheelchairs and scooters for rent. The equipment is delivered and picked up for free within the Albuquerque city limits, including at hotels, the airport and private residences. Devices are delivered clean and fully charged so you’re ready to go as soon as it’s delivered.

Motorized scooters, self-propelled manual wheelchairs and wheelchairs that require another person to push are among the equipment that is available for rent.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

During the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon Co. offers wheelchair accessible hot air balloon flights. The basket has a clear bottom that allows people in wheelchairs to have a great view of the scenery.

Albuquerque Isotopes

The Albuquerque Isotopes offer sensory bags to anyone attending a game. Each bag contains headphones, sunglasses, gloves and fidgets. The bags are a partnership between the Isotopes, the New Mexico Autism Society and Summit Electric Supply.

Explora

Explora has added hours on certain days for a more sensory-friendly experience. There will be limited attendance, sensory kits and noise and light reduction. Visit Explora’s website to see the dates with extra sensory-friendly time and purchase your tickets.

Keshet Dance & Center for the Arts

Keshet Dance & Center for the Arts offers sensory-friendly performances. Adjustments include house lights remaining lit, fewer tickets sold, designated quiet areas, and unrestricted access to leave and reenter the theater.

New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science hosts Relaxed Nights at the Museum for anyone who gets overwhelmed by crowds, sounds or flashing lights. The sound will be turned down throughout the museum, the Bisti Beast animatronic dinosaur won’t be moving or roaring, and the Planetarium will have the lights on low. Open Space

Albuquerque is full of stunning open spaces for visitors to enjoy. The Open Space trails that are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act are:

• Rio Bravo Riverside Picnic Area, Fishing Pier and Nature Trail
• Alameda/Rio Grande Open Space
• Carolino Canyon
• Pueblo Montano Picnic Area and Trailhead

Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway

Soar above the Sandia Mountains on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway. The tram car itself and the deck area at the top are wheelchair accessible.
